Alicia J. Augello-Cook, or Alicia Keys, was born on January 25, 1981 in New York, New York U.S.A. Her parent's names are Craig Cook and Theresa Augello. Her parents got divorced when she was very young, and her mother raised her as a single mother. Her mother made her take classical piano at age seven. " But when I first fell in love with the piano, I knew it was me. I was dying to play." Is one of her quotes that I found on www.brainyquotes.com . When her music teacher told her, "There is nothing more to teach her." Her parents sent her to New York's prestigious Performing Arts School. She was very talented and was accepted into the school to study singing and jazz piano. When she wanted to become a performer at a young age, her mother went along with her dreams and sent her to Manhattan’s Professional Performing Arts School. She graduated after just three years of high school at age sixteen, and was still elected valedictorian of her graduating class. She was accepted into Columbia University but she dropped out to work on her music career full time
Alicia Keys has a great number of achievements. She has won eleven Grammy's, which I consider a very impressive feat. She was also one of the first annual BET honor honorees, which I think means many people appreciate her undeniable talents. She has won 4 Billboards, which is very cool, and she has also wont eh NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) image awards. She has won many AMA' s (American Music Awards) and VMA's (Video Music Awards). The first album she ever recorded was selected for the number one spot on the Billboards. She has also co-founded Keep a Child Alive, a non-profit organization that gives money to people, in Africa to prevent AIDS. I think that is a good way to help people, and everybody should at the least donate a dollar a day to help.
Alicia Keys is a great person and a wonderful role model. She's smart talented and beautiful and uses her gift to help others. Alicia Keys really tries to make a difference, and she does, which is why I admire her so much.
